On this page you see the laced gloves from Windy, how they differ from velcro, which weight suits you and how to lace them.

All laced boxing gloves in this collection are handmade in Bangkok, Thailand. Many fighters search for boxing gloves lace up style because their trainer or gym prefers them. You choose between the Classic Lace-Up in leather and the Elite Series. The laces pull the glove around your wrist and hand evenly, so there is no strap that can shift or loosen during a round. Many fighters say the glove feels like part of the hand, which makes it easier to keep a tight fist and a straight wrist.

The trade-off is convenience. You need a training partner or coach to lace you up, and taking the gloves off between rounds takes longer. That is why laces are popular for sparring sessions, fight preparation and pad rounds with a trainer, while velcro is the logical pick for quick bag sessions and group classes.

Which Windy lace up boxing gloves suit you?

We make two laced lines, and the difference sits in the construction:

Classic Lace-Up (leather): a small filling under the fingers helps you form a solid fist, and a long filling along the side of the glove adds protection where hooks land. For a fight, always check the rules of your event first. In many sanctioned bouts the organiser supplies or approves the gloves, so the laced pair you buy here is often the glove you train and spar with in the weeks before.

Are lace up boxing gloves good for sparring?

Yes, as long as you pick the right weight. A laced glove stays in place when you block, clinch and throw combinations, so you spend less time adjusting straps. For sparring we advise 16 oz for most adults, because the extra padding protects your partner as much as yourself.

Lace up sparring gloves are also a good way to get used to the feel of a fight glove. If you have a fight coming up, training in laces during the last weeks means nothing feels new on fight night.

How do you lace and tie laced boxing gloves?

Lacing takes a minute once you know the routine:

Wrap your hands first.
